All previous iterations of the Surface Pro have had a tiny slot on the computer back for a micro SD card, this was a great feature allowing for inexpensive extra storage space. For their most expensive Pro yet, they have removed this. So, be very careful to select your computer with adequate storage space as none can be added later. I bought mine direct from the Microsoft store. My first reaction was one of dismay to discover that there is no longer a micro-sd slot provided, a feature which all previous versions of the Surface Pro have included.

Instead, Microsoft have provided a means of easy access and replacement of the M. However, in practical terms, when you look for a viable upgrade, you will find that there are hardly any of these available for purchase.

Furthermore, the one or two which you might find are horrendously expensive, more than twice the price of SSDs in more common form factors, and three times the price of micro sds.

To make matters worse, the Surface Pro 8, while providing 2 USB C ports, which is excellent, have done away with the old USB type A ports completely, which means that all my old unobtrusive low profile small form factor USB flash drives can now only be used with an USB C adaptor, which make them stick out a mile.

I’ve not had chance to check yet how little battery life id get at higher brightness doing something more intensive like using applications or watching movies but to say I’m disappointed would be an understatement and likely hood is I’ll be returning the unit if i cant find a way to improve it, having to recharge it every 4 hours of use or being tethered to a power supply during use is just not something I’m willing to do.

Really impressed. I’ve long been a fan of the Surface Pro range, but could never justify the high cost. However my Surface Go doesn’t support Windows 11, so I decided to sell it and put the money towards a Pro. You get what you pay for I guess. The screen size and resolution are great, and with the reduced bezel size it looks fantastic. The downside to this though is that it is really heavy, made worse by the lack of anywhere to grip without touching the screen – my Surface Go had thumb sized bezels, so it looked a little dated, but it was much easier to hold.

I’m sure its something I will get used to – I find it is much better if I change how I hold it, and cradle it in by left arm rather than holding it with just my fingers, I can use it in tablet mode much more comfortably. In laptop mode it is much more able to replace a laptop than my Go was due to the much larger screen and keyboard. The performance so far is flawless.

I haven’t tried playing games or editing video, or anything else particularly heavy duty, but with day to day tasks it doesn’t miss a beat. Overall, very very happy with it.
