If you have your own music library as I do, the best options at the moment are Roon and Plex. Both offer a well-designed interface and powerful tools to manage your library. And, to this day, no other options gave me the same level of refinement when sorting my movies and series. Sure, Plex also sorts my music but as good as it is, the sort engine remains sub-optimal, compared to Roon. A nerdy guy with a passion for audio and gadgets, he likes to combine his DAC and his swiss knife.
He likes spreadsheets, technical specs and all this amazing ly boring numbers. But most of all, he loves music: electro, classical, dubstep, Debussy : the daily playlist. A followup review by the author of, Audirvana Studio, working in conjunction with the Dirac Live 3 room-correction software would be greatly appreciated.
Then, I learned that Roon does not perform well that way. Once I learned how to deploy Roon properly, I found that it sounds as good or better than Audirvana, depending on the network bridge. Audirvana is a computer audio system. Roon is a network audio system that can function as computer audio, albeit poorly. I enjoyed your review, but I wish you had provided more detail on how you set up Roon and compared an optimal Audirvana configuration to an optimal Roon installation.
That would have put them on more even footing regarding sound quality. You were spot on about other differences. I also use a macbook for the core, streaming to a pi with a hat.
Everything is just better and more focused with Audirvana. I am open to most things mattering, but I find it to be strange if thats better. I get a suspicion Roon detects if it runs on their own hardward.
Very interesting. If be interested to know how it compared to subsonic. Like you, I rely on Plex for movies. I audirvana 2. As a long-time Tidal subscriber, I have no issues with subscriptions so long as there is performance value for the investment.
The Studio download went fine and, though early days, I am very impressed with Studio over Plus. I hope to have more to say on this down the road. I preferred sending in a question and Damien, et al, responding. This is the Benchmark Audio support model which, for me, distinguishes real customer support from the community approach that is merely a convenience to the company. So at this early stage I am really like using Studio and will gladly pay the fre rate if no tedious software issues.
Good job Audirvana. But the pricing does, somewhat. Qobuz on its own provides significant value for 2. Audirvana does not alone in comparison.
A shame. And the perceived value. Otherwise I use the Qobuz player for convenience. Thus the subscriber model can be costly. On the other hand. Audirvana 2. If not, the monthly cost of using Audirvana across my machines would not be worth it.
Good luck folks at Audirvana! Wunderhorn May 15 Looks like this is going to subscription-only. What a slap audirvana 2. Audirvana is DEAD to me now. Audirvana 3. It sounds so good. The better your system the more you will love it. You can try it for 30 days so you have nothing to lose and it is well worth the price. Decades long audiophile and you have a free trial for 30 days. So what do you have to audirvana 2. Search is so slow I would call it non-functional.
Allowing audirvana 2. I get zero enjoyment from it. Maclover Jul 3 Apple Music cannot display most of my artwork which sucks sooooo bad Audirvana shows them all. It looks cheezy as does the logo and is not well thought-out. It feels like there is no real UI designer in that team. The website looks homemade as well. M87 Apr 26 I bought Audirvana after a trial because of its really good sound quality. Those who only use the iOS or only the Android version, on the other hand, will then pay 10 Euros more than before.
